Diversity, in Vannoken culture, is the byproduct of negotiable elements of individuality. However, there are also traditional elements of uniformity.
It is not a “diverse” tribe that we seek to build, but a uniform tribe with room for individual uniqueness.
Our culture only has form because we share specific uniform intrinsic qualities. Cognitive, meritocratic, ideological, and narratorial factors make for uniform bonds between us. These are the four pillars of uniformity that hold the culture together.
Cognitive Uniformity in Vannoken Culture
For instance, we’re all within two standard deviations of IQ or ASVAB ranges. One Vannoken may have a bit higher score than another. Though, there is no gap between any two that is too large for effortless communication. This is a kind of cognitive uniformity.
Diversity in Topical Physiology
Topical elements of diversity in this part of the culture are in physiology. This means that there could be a black-dominant Vannoken and a white-dominant Vannoken. Both could have topical differences in skin color. However, if they are both within the same IQ range, cultural harmony is very easy to achieve and maintain.
Weaknesses in Topical Diversity
It is a fact that there are averages of differences between ethnic groups in variations of IQ. This means that to preserve our culture, people with too low an IQ are not typically granted entrance. This makes the Vannoken tribe intellectually elitist.
This may catalyze an evolutionary and eugenic advantage to the tribe’s development. Though, this means that there will inevitably develop a majority of phenotypic similarity.
An eventual phenotypic similarity (or even uniformity) is not looked at as a weakness or bad thing in Vannoken culture. It’s just not the focus.
The weakness comes in the controversy of Vannoken babies born with low IQs. Random occurrences of Down Syndrome, for instance, can still occur within the tribe. Abortion goes against the non-aggression principle. Yet, there is no discernible way to enforce the will to prevent parents from aborting said babies.
Meanwhile, there is some measure of public disapproval to take into consideration. For instance, this means that many blacks and Hispanics are statistically unlikely to qualify for the tribe. Though, they would never be barred for their skin color’s sake alone. This means many low IQ whites will unlikely qualify, as well. The elitism isn’t based on racism nor is it actually based on IQ.
Qualifying for the tribe would involve some aspect of legal meritocratic challenge or accomplishment that would, by nature, require a certain level of cognitive acuity. If they cannot demonstrate that acuity, despite

Meritocratic Uniformity in Vannoken Culture
For the second, we each have a certain level of esteem, merit, or the will to achieve. All founding members, male and female, have accomplished relative success in their careers. Or, they are aspiring to. What the individual has accomplished for themselves earns them respect and acceptance. Meanwhile, the will to even do so is both psychological and ideological.
Diversity in Topical Merit
Topical diversity in this part of the culture exists in styles of individual merit. A Vannoken can choose any career path they want. What matters most is that they are, indeed, contributing to humanity.
Weaknesses in Meritocratic Diversity
Vannokens may weaken their sense of community in two ways.
By focusing so much on their careers, communication between members can decline. This is neither
Traditional Vannoken families are Judeo-Christian in nature. Though, women have the right to work. This means that Vannoken families have the right to vary in their dynamics. This is to benefit their acclimation and survival in individual circumstances.
Strain in the family will increase if both members of the family are career-focused. This would also lead to declines in quality parenting for Vannoken children.
This means that compromises in relationship dynamics occur on a case-by-case scenario.
Ideological Uniformity in Vannoken Culture
There may be political and philosophical antagonists to the culture, such as communism.
However, there is no external antagonist set by the culture. It is not us who declares war on communism, for instance. It is the will to resist communistic rhetoric and governing set upon us. It is not the Vannoken way to try to overthrow anyone’s government, even if we disagree with them. There is only the will to preserve our way of life.
This is the non-aggression principle set at the foundation of the culture’s ethics. The difference is in who is the aggressor. There is no actual, declared external enemy of Vannoken culture. Not only are all pasts, from African-American slavery to Irish genocide forgiven. It is the way of the culture to continually forgive the past. This is to neither start nor sustain perpetual cultural wars.
The ideological notion of individualistic freedom is at the core of Vannoken culture. Such freedom is critical for individualistic self-actualization. This is a counter-intuitive type of uniformity in the sense that we may not agree on all things. Though, we would fight to the end for each of our rights to disagree with each other.
Ideological uniformity can also manifest in the form of traditions and language. These are elements of cultural character that are derived from the will to rebuild and advance our familial structure.
Diversity in Ideological Notions
If one is not free to deviate from norms, then there is no true freedom. This is the paradox of freedom within a culture. Thus, it is perfectly acceptable for a Vannoken to have the freedom to vary in political thought.
Weaknesses in Ideological Diversity
There could, in the future, be communistic or fascistic Vannokens. Though we would consider them deviants, outliers. They’d only exist at the individual level because of their freedom to think and
Vannoken culture always faces the threat of overthrow and political destruction. This is because any aspect of the culture can change, at any time, via vote.
Therein, Vannoken culture has the freedom to destroy itself from within. This is the inevitable paradox of varying good intentions.
Narratorial Uniformity in Vannoken Culture
In the Vannoken cultural narrative, there is only one antagonist, an internal one: the self. We fused Maslowian theory with Japanese perfectionism in the cultural narrative. This is to create a tribe of self-actualizing individuals. All pursue higher levels of self-perfection and personal responsibility.
This creates uniformity via experiential bonds of personal storytelling.
Diversity in Narratorial Style
Two Vannokens may have completely different careers. One may be a self-actualizing fisherman. The other may be a self-actualizing martial
However, there is a universal underlying narrative of self-perfection. Both Vannokens could swap stories about each of their paths of perfection. They may have totally different literal ways of expressing themselves. Yet, they bond through universal themes of said storytelling. This creates a kind of experiential uniformity, even if there is topical diversity.
Weaknesses in Narratorial Diversity
Each individual is free to think differently, to question, and challenge the culture as they please. This means that it is inevitable that there will be Vannokens who do not follow the narrative. They are still considered Vannokens via genealogy, though.
There are four elements of uniformity to Vannoken culture. There may exist phenotypic differences between individuals. However, uniform cognitive, narratorial, ideological, and meritocratic elements make the glue that holds us together.
